To outsource or not?

A major decision that companies need to make is whether to outsource part of all of the IT services.

Telecoms suppliers are spending millions on building their capabilities to support outsourcing in order to stay profitable in the ever decreasing commodity market.

Some major companies have outsourced part or all of the Telecoms spend in order to reduce overheads and reduce costs.

The decision on whether to outsource or not is really dependant on the company’s own situation. There is no one answer. The decision to outsource must be based on:
  • Does it increase the profitability of the company by reducing the TCO of telecoms or in that new services can help to increase productivity or increase revenue.
  • Can a outsourcing partner be found that can provide the service levels required and support the future needs to the company whilst still supporting the financial targets.
  • In outsourcing and transferring current internal knowledge and skills will the competitive advantage of the company be reduced or will the benefits that can be obtained by having access to the knowledge of the outsourcing partner have a higher benefit.
  • Will the potential short term gains be outweighed by future disadvantages?
Enzela can help a company in making this decision by helping in the development of a Telecoms strategy. Part of the analysis will include whether there is a benefit for a company to outsource part or all of it Telecoms services either separately or part of a larger outsourcing strategy.
